The Technische Universität Dresden (TUD) has made Christiane Schaufler-Münch (1934-2025) an honorary citizen for her commitment to promoting science and research at the university.
Christiane Schaufler-Münch has supported TUD in many ways through THE SCHAUFLER FOUNDATION (TSF), which she co-founded. This includes supporting the Schaufler Lab@TU Dresden. The Schaufler Professorship for Refrigeration, Cryogenics and Compressor Technology was maintained as an endowed professorship by the TSF for five years and has now been supported by the university again since 2015. The foundation continues to be involved in various activities of the chair. Other important projects include the funding of numerous TUD German scholarships and the construction of the new Dresden University School.
The appointment as an honorary citizen of the Technische Universität Dresden (TUD) is a tribute to personalities outside the immediate university community who have made a significant contribution to the further development of the university with their merits and achievements. Christiane Schaufler-Münch passed away in April of this year at the age of 90. The Senate's decision to confer the TUD honorary citizenship was already made on March 12, 2025.
TUD Rector Prof. Dr. Ursula Staudinger has now presented the official certificate to Ingo Smit, Chairman of THE SCHAUFLER FOUNDATION.
